The Solar Do Castelo, from the Heritage Lisbon Hotels, has just received the certification for an Eco-Hotel given by TÜV Rheinland Portugal, in recognition for the good environmental practices adopted.
"This certification gives Solar do Castelo a unique recognition. We are concern about environmental issues and want to contribute actively so Lisbon will be a sustainable city. The measures, which were the basis of this certification, are essential steps for the welfare of our guests and employees” refers Diogo Laranjo from the Heritage Hotels Lisbon.
At Solar Do Castelo the water consumption was minimized through a structured plan. The guests’ security, one of the crucial reasons for this certification, was subject of recognition as the hotel has adopted measures of self-protection with the back-up of the National Authority for Civil Protection. In this unit, certain replacements were implemented, like the use of energy-saving lamps, as well as an integrated system of air-conditioning and water heating.
The ecological concern, in conjunction with a growing awareness of social responsibility, has been a constant concern of the Heritage Lisbon Hotels. Concerns such as the environmental impact caused by structures, energy consumption, natural habitat integration, as well as other social and economic factors, are more and more significant in the management of the hotels.
