To celebrate the arrival of spring, Heritage Hotels are giving away free train tickets to Cascais. This charming fishing town is only 30 minutes by train from Lisbon, which is where the chain’s five charm hotels are located. It’s certainly a must for anyone staying in the capital, thanks to the magnificent beaches and outdoor cafés and restaurants along the coast.
The promotion applies to anyone staying at least two nights at one of the Heritage Lisboa hotels - As Janelas Verdes, Heritage Av Liberdade Hotel, Hotel Britania, Hotel Lisboa Plaza and Solar do Castelo.
The ride along the Lisbon coast begins at Cais do Sodré Station in Lisbon and runs alongside the River Tagus until it meets the sea. The first beach is near St. Bruno’s Fort in Caxias, Oeiras, followed by a succession of different sizes of calm-watered beaches in Paço de Arcos, Carcavelos (which marks the end of the Tagus Estuary), Parede, São Pedro do Estoril, Estoril (famous for its cosmopolitan Tamariz beach) until we reach Cascais. All along the Cascais line, there are plenty of good restaurants and outdoor cafés for making the most of the good weather. This is yet another good reason for staying at a Heritage hotel and taking advantage of this irresistible offer.
Heritage Hotels Lisbon is a small chain of boutique hotels owned by Portuguese families. The idea is to promote hotels located in historical buildings and old houses in the historic part of Lisbon, all with ambiances combining modern comforts with their history and character and offering a cosier, more welcoming alternative.
In addition to the latest addition, Heritage Av Liberdade Hotel, Hotéis Heritage Lisboa include As Janelas Verdes, which is in a small late 18th-century mansion in a street with the same name, Hotel Britania, located only 50 metres from Avenida da Liberdade in a 1940s building designed by the famous Portuguese architect Cassiano Branco and recently restored to its original art deco style, Hotel Lisboa Plaza, in a building designed by Lucínio Cruz with interiors by Graça Viterbo located between Travessa do Salitre and Avenida da Liberdade, and Solar do Castelo, which is inside the walls of São Jorge Castle, on the site of the old kitchens of Paços da Alcáçova.
